Install Process & Timeline
Going solar is straightforward. Most residential projects take between six and twelve weeks from contract to activation. Here’s what the process looks like.
1) Consultation & Site Evaluation
A solar specialist reviews your energy usage, roof layout, and local sunlight exposure. They’ll provide a proposal with system size, cost, and savings estimate.
Typical duration: 1–2 weeks
2) Design & Permitting
Engineers create final plans based on your roof and electrical setup. The installer submits required permits to your city or county for approval.
Typical duration: 2–4 weeks
3) Installation Day
Once permits are approved, installation usually takes 1–3 days. Technicians mount panels, connect wiring, and install the inverter and any batteries.
Typical duration: 1–3 days
4) Inspection & Utility Approval
Local inspectors verify compliance with electrical and safety codes. After approval, your utility installs a net meter and grants permission to operate (PTO).
Typical duration: 2–4 weeks
5) Activation & Monitoring
Once the utility gives the green light, your system is turned on and begins producing power. You’ll receive app access to track production and performance.
Typical duration: Immediate after approval
